From the Editor
I apologise for the delay in getting this issue out; between an early bout of obscene NYC summer weather and some entirely sub-optimal events at the job that actually pays for Freelance Traveller, there was a period of close to two weeks that seemed like my get-up-and-go got up and went; apparently it didn’t think I was good company at that point.
That said, it’s time to beg again. I’m really scraping bottom on a lot of sections; more articles on just about everything would be welcome. Freelance Traveller is, after all, all about fan support.
Sections that are a bit skimpy are Less Dangerous Game, Fascinating Flora, and pretty much all of Kurishdam. I wouldn’t object to more material in the Multimedia Gallery, especially if it’s something other than static images (but those are good, too); I’ve recently discovered how to embed audio and video without needing things hosted someplace like YouTube.
On some of the Traveller forums, there’s been discussion of the use of AI, and some policies have been set and announced. This is probably a good time to make Freelance Traveller’s basic policy on AI clear: We have no objection to AI output being included in your work, but it must be noted, and, preferably, the AI involved identified. It is expected that, at least for text products, you will not submit it unedited, except in cases where the entire point of the article is to showcase how AI can be used in your game or prep thereof, such as in Timothy Collinson’s article, “An AI Chat About NPC Motivations” from the May/June 2024 issue.
